Hours after Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch said criticism of federal judges is “disheartening,” President Trump criticized federal judges. Again.

Speaking at a fundraising dinner for House Republicans, Mr. Trump mentioned his executive orders to block immigration temporarily from six predominantly Muslim nations. Federal judges have halted the orders twice, drawing criticism from the president, who couldn’t resist another comment Tuesday night.

“The courts are not helping us. It’s ridiculous,” Mr. Trump told lawmakers. “Somebody said I should not criticize judges. OK, I’ll criticize judges.”

At his confirmation hearing earlier Tuesday, Judge Gorsuch was asked about such criticism.

“When anyone criticizes the honesty, integrity, the motives of a federal judge, I find that disheartening, I find that demoralizing, because I know the truth,” Judge Gorsuch said.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut Democrat, asked the nominee if “anyone” included the president.

“Anyone is anyone,” Judge Gorsuch said.
