CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say someone broke into Alderman Deb Mell’s office and stole a computer tablet.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/2nWaNM0 ) that the theft happened early Monday at Mell’s 33rd Ward office on the city’s Northwest Side. Authorities say a man broke in the office through a glass pane front door at about 3:25 a.m. by throwing a chunk of concrete to shatter the glass.

Mell tells the newspaper that a man who was cleaning the office startled the thief, who ran off with a computer tablet. Mell says “it doesn’t feel great, but it happens.”

Mell says she leaves the tablet in the window to display bus arrival information for a nearby bus stop.
