CECIL, Pa. (AP) - Former Democratic state Rep. Jesse White is about to have his law license suspended by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
The order issued Wednesday would suspend the 38-year-old attorney’s law license effective April 14.
The order says White, who has not been charged with a crime, misspent more than $96,000 worth of client funds.
White’s attorney, Amy Coco, has tried to block the suspension arguing that White had sought treatment “for a pathological gambling addiction.” The Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court says its Office of Disciplinary Counsel plans to file for disciplinary action against White, but that might result in a consent decree in which White agrees to a penalty.
White represented the 46th House District from 2007 until he lost the seat to Republican state Rep. Jason Ortitay in November 2014.
