ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is trashing Donald Trump’s proposed state budget, calling the Republican president’s spending plan “dangerous, reckless and contemptuous of American values.”

The Democratic governor on Thursday called on Congress to reject the Trump budget “out of hand.”

He says the budget would cut funding for key transportation projects such as the long-sought rail tunnel between New York and New Jersey and undermine affordable housing, health care research and environmental protection.

Cuomo says that when combined with proposed tax cuts for the rich, the budget is a repudiation of every day New Yorkers.

Noting the budget’s call to increase military spending, Cuomo, who has been mentioned as a possible presidential contender, said America has always offered more to the world than military might.
