GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - The Greeley-Evans School District 6 Board of Education has approved a two-year contract with the district’s teachers.

The Tribune of Greeley reports (https://bit.ly/2nebp33 ) that the contract, approved Wednesday, calls for a 2.5 percent annual salary for teachers who stay with the district and raises starting pay, among other things.

The contract caps a long negotiation process that focused on consensus-based negotiations rather than traditional bargaining. The change in tradition comes after contentious contract disputes that led to calls for mediation eight times between 2002 and 2015.

This year’s bargaining took only two sessions covering just 12 hours.
