SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Syracuse say they’ve charged a 29-year-old man with wounding three people, including a man who’s listed in serious condition.

Authorities say officers responded around 7 a.m. Saturday to Upstate University Hospital where three people had sought treatment for gunshot wounds.

Police say a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest and remains hospitalized in serious condition. A 36-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were both treated and released.

Officers say all three had left the scene of the shooting in a private vehicle to go to the hospital without reporting the shooting to police.

Officials say they arrested Courtney Burton, of Syracuse, on Tuesday and charged him with assault, attempted assault and criminal possession of a machine gun.

He’s being held in jail. It couldn’t be learned from prosecutors if he has a lawyer.
