NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - The first major bookstore to set up shop in Newark in decades has opened its doors.

NJ.com (https://bit.ly/2m0IXli ) reports the 10,000 square-foot Barnes and Noble Rutgers bookstore is situated inside the newly renovated Hahne & Co. building on Halsey Street.

The bookstore spans two floors and features seating areas, desks and work lounges open to the community. It officially started operating last month.

Arcelio Aponte, vice chancellor for administration and CFO for Rutgers-Newark, says there hasn’t been a full-service bookstore open in downtown Newark in more than 30 years.

The bookstore moved from its previous location on the campus of Rutgers-Newark to increase visibility.

Above the bookstore the university has opened a 50,000 square-foot studio arts space with galleries and classrooms.
