LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan regulators are inviting the public to comment on a draft plan for inland trout populations.

The Department of Natural Resources says it provides an overview of habitats in Michigan’s rivers and inland lakes, plus the biology and ecology of inland trout.

It also discusses management activities geared toward the species and the places they live.

The report does not cover species such as Chinook or coho salmon and migratory rainbow trout, also known as steelhead. They live in the Great Lakes and migrate inland on a seasonal basis. Inland trout are those that usually spend all their lives in inland waterways.

The report is available online under Angler Alerts on the fishing section of the state’s website.
