The iconic Jim Henson Company studios hosted a one-night only event last weekend that attacked President Trump.
An improv show called “Puppet Up! — Uncensored” was performed Saturday before a sold-out audience in New York. Roughly 85 puppets were used to crack BDSM jokes about House Speaker Paul Ryan and others about the commander in chief. The Hollywood Reporter covered the performance, which marked the first time the company opened its doors to the public.
“Yesterday this was a TV show, today this is a theater,” said Brian Henson, chairman of the Jim Henson Company, THR reported Monday.
Mr. Henson, who co-created the show with Patrick Bristow, said his famous father would have been proud of the night’s proceedings.
“He was also very naughty,” the entertainer said. “His sense of humor was very naughty and very blue. … The funniest comedy that we’re doing right now with puppets is the R-rated adult stuff.”
Some of the shots at Mr. Trump required references to wiretapping and bodily fluids, while Trump Tower was likened to “Uranus,” THR reported.
Other versions of “Puppet Up! — Uncensored” have debuted in Hollywood, Las Vegas and Australia.
