PLUCKEMIN, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he would give the Trump administration advice on New Jersey’s next federal prosecutor but he’s not sharing any names publicly.
Christie, a Republican who served as U.S. attorney for New Jersey from 2002 to 2008, was asked about the state’s next federal prosecutor during a winter storm briefing Tuesday.
New Jersey U.S Attorney Paul Fishman announced Friday he was stepping down that day after the Justice Department requested resignations from him and 45 other prosecutors appointed during the prior presidential administration.
The Justice Department has said the request was similar to ones made in past presidential transitions.
Christie says he’s committed to give President Donald Trump his opinion but declined to give it publicly. He also declined to share any names he might recommend.
