Rep. Darrell Issa said Monday he’s not prepared to vote for the House GOP health plan as it currently stands.
“I’m not prepared to vote for it … right now,” Mr. Issa, California Republican, said on “Fox & Friends.”
“That’s not because of a specific ’this is unacceptable,’ but because I think we can do better … in a number of areas of concern,” he said. “In general … we’re doing something about a program that’s failing that didn’t achieve what it said it was going to achieve.”
Mr. Issa was narrowly re-elected in 2016 to represent California’s San Diego County-area 49th congressional district with slightly more than 50 percent of the vote.
Republican leadership has tried to cast the health care debate as a binary choice between voting for a GOP plan that can pass both the House and the Senate and supporting Obamacare.
