BOSTON (AP) - Irish Taoiseach (TEE’-shuk) Enda Kenny and Irish Ambassador to the United States Anne Anderson have met with top politicians in Massachusetts.

Gov. Charlie Baker and Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito greeted them on the Statehouse steps Monday morning, accompanied by pipes and drums.

Kenny - Ireland’s prime minister - also discussed immigration with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh at City Hall. Kenny touted the contributions Irish immigrants have made to Boston and U.S. history.

Kenny was also scheduled to visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston to discuss the Irish-U.S. relationship and key issues for Ireland in the new millennium. Kennedy was America’s first Irish-Catholic president.

Kenny was expected in Providence Tuesday but the event was canceled because of the storm.

Later in the week, he’s scheduled to visit the White House.
