SEATTLE (AP) - A teenage girl has died after a tree fell on her while she walked in the woods in a northern Seattle suburb.

The Seattle Times reports (https://goo.gl/qjOpKb ) the girl was part of a group taking a walk at Meadowdale Beach Park in the Lynnwood area Friday afternoon when the tree fell.

Snohomish County Sheriff Lieutenant Steve McDonald called the incident a tragic accident and said the tree happened to fall and crushed her. He says some of the other teens tried to move the tree, but it was too large.

McDonald didn’t believe anyone else was hurt.

The girl was dead when emergency responders arrived.

No further information was immediately available.
