AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Two men have been sentenced after being convicted of murder in a fatal shooting outside an Auburn karaoke bar.
The Opelika-Auburn News reports (https://bit.ly/2lbk2uV) Shamond Williams and Shatarious Cobb received 30 years each Monday for the killing of 20-year-old Marquez Patrick and 20 years for the attempted murder of another man. Williams and Cobb will serve the 30 and 20-year sentences concurrently.
The men were convicted on Dec. 9 for the Dec. 15, 2013 shooting in the parking lot of Jackie Lee’s Karaoke Bar.
Media outlets report defense attorneys argued during the trial that Williams and Cobb weren’t the shooters that night, saying it was chaotic and several people at the club had been armed with guns. Prosecutors said Williams and Cobb had been arguing with Patrick prior to the shooting and intentionally killed him.
