FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Company officials announced the Flagstaff SCA tissue production plant is closing.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports (https://bit.ly/2sYgxaH ) the plant is halting operations Thursday and will close later this month.

SCA Vice President of Communications Amy Bellcourt says the plant informed its 78 employees Wednesday of the closure.

Bellcourt says employees will receive pay for 60 days following Thursday.

The Bellemont plant will remain open.

Bellcourt says the Flagstaff plant and the Bellemont plant serve different purposes - the paper is actually made in Flagstaff and the finished products are created at the Bellemont plant.

Bellcourt says additional production capacity and increased production efficiency contributed to the Flagstaff plant closure.

Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Julie Pastrick says the chamber is working to help employees find new jobs.
