ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York state’s education department is finalizing plans for a hearing on whether one-time candidate for governor Carl Paladino should be removed from the Buffalo school board.
The hearing is scheduled for June 22 in Albany. The department says Wednesday that because public interest in the hearing is high, it’s setting up a viewing room in Albany for people who don’t get a seat in the hearing room. But the department says that under law, the proceeding can’t be livestreamed, televised or recorded.
The hearing will focus on a complaint by other school board members that Paladino violated policy by disclosing information that was discussed in executive session.
Paladino says information he disclosed was a matter of public interest and that efforts to remove him are retaliatory.
