Comedian Jerry Seinfeld says outrage over Kathy Griffin’s recent beheading “art” is much ado about nothing.
The star of “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee” agreed to talk with People magazine this week about the media firestorm over Ms. Griffin’s infamous execution project on President Donald Trump. He told the publication that Americans got themselves worked up over a non-issue.
“Yes, it was another bad joke. Every comedian tells bad jokes,” Mr. Seinfeld told the magazine on Tuesday. “We all do it. That’s how we find the good jokes. So someone told a bad joke — so what, I don’t understand the big deal.”
Ms. Griffin made national headlines on May 30 after she and photographer Tyler Shields released a video to TMZ of their “art” project. The comedian apologized later in the day for the images, which showed her looking steely eyed into the camera with a blood-soaked “Trump” head.
The comedian then gave a tearful press conference on June 2 accusing Mr. Trump of trying to destroy her career.
“I’m going to be honest,” she said. “He broke me, he broke me, he broke me.”

Not mentioned in People’s piece was Mr. Seinfeld’s professional history with Ms. Griffin. She was featured on his iconic sitcom “Seinfeld” in 1996.
