SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A pharmacist is facing several charges after allegedly stealing prescription drugs from a Pennsylvania Rite Aid.

Scranton police say Keith Carson stole pills such as oxycodone, hydrocodone and diazepam over a course of three years.

Carson told police he had given the pills to a customer who had a prescription for oxycodone. Police say Carson would give the customer extra pills, and the number gradually increased over time.

Investigators say the missing pills were discovered two weeks ago during a monthly inventory. Carson is usually responsible for the inventory, but he was out of town at the time.

Carson’s preliminary hearing is set for June 15 and is being held on $50,000 bond.
