A trio of powerful producers behind the Oscar-nominated “Fences” are moving forward with a film on the relationship between Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp.
Amazon Studios recently acquired the rights to “Linda and Monica,” which will explore Ms. Tripp’s recorded phone conversations with Ms. Lewinsky talking about the latter’s sexual encounters with former President Bill Clinton.
The Black List script by Flint Wainess will be produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.
The project was announced Monday by Deadline Hollywood.
Ms. Lewinsky was a 22-year old intern when her taped disclosures to Ms. Tripp, a Defense Department employee, were leaked to special prosecutor Kenneth Starr. The Whitewater investigator’s work ultimately led the House of Representatives to impeach Mr. Clinton on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, although the Senate ultimately acquitted him.
“I was the most humiliated woman in the world,” Ms. Lewinsky told NBC’s “Today” show in 2014. “To be called stupid and a slut and a bimbo, and ditzy and to be taken out of context, it was excruciating. … I mean it was just violation after violation.”
