DEWEY BEACH, Del. (AP) - Some people are finding it difficult to secure Delaware beachfront rentals, as more properties are being converted to full-time homes.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports (https://delonline.us/2qT5kvx ) the rentals are being converted into full-time homes by people moving to seaside communities. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Sussex County absorbed three-quarters of the people who moved to Delaware last year.

Renter Adrienne Bane says it seems like renting is getting tougher each year because there are fewer properties left.

Brigit Taylor, president of the Sussex County Association of Realtors, says the properties are being transformed by retirees and people who have no interest in renting.

Dewey Beach Mayor Dale Cooke says the town is still a rental town, but the cycle is beginning to change.
