SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Isabelle Harrison had 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to help the San Antonio Stars snap a 14-game losing streak to open the season with an 89-82 victory over the Chicago Sky on Friday night.

Vickie Johnson won her first WNBA game as a head coach to end the worst start in franchise history. The Stars were three losses short of Atlanta’s record to start the season of 17 consecutive defeats.

Alex Montgomery also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for San Antonio (1-14). Moriah Jefferson added 13 points and eight assists.

Allie Quigley scored six points on back-to-back Chicago possessions to pull to 84-82 with 1:09 left. But Jefferson made her first 3-pointer of the game with 47 seconds left and Quigley’s 3-pointer rolled out on the other end.

Quigley scored 20 of her season-high 27 points in the second half for Chicago (3-12). Courtney Vandersloot had nine assists and moved into 24th in WNBA history.

LYNX 91, MERCURY 83

PHOENIX (AP) - Maya Moore scored 21 points, Sylvia Fowles had 17 points and the Lynx beat the Mercury.

Phoenix trailed by eight points with two minutes remaining, but closed to 85-83 on Diana Taurasi’s 3-pointer with 16.8 seconds left.

Sylvia Fowles and Rebekkah Brunson combined for four straight free throws on Minnesota’s next two possessions to seal it.

Lindsay Whalen added 14 points for Minnesota (12-1). Brunson grabbed 10 rebounds and moved into third on the WNBA career list with 3,079. She trails Lisa Leslie (3,307) and Tamika Catchings (3,316).

Camille Little scored 16 points, and Danielle Robinson and Taurasi each added 15 for Phoenix (7-6).

In addition to giving away 5,000 bobbleheads for Diana Taurasi Night, the Mercury sectioned off an area behind a basket and brought in live goats to honor the “Greatest of All Time.”

SPARKS 85, DREAM 76

ATLANTA (AP) - Candace Parker scored 21 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Chelsea Gray added 20 points, and Los Angeles beat the Atlanta Dream for the Sparks’ seventh straight victory.

It was tied at 23 after the first quarter, but Los Angeles opened the second on a 16-2 run - with six points apiece from Riquna Williams and Parker - as Atlanta went scoreless for six-plus minutes. The Dream closed the half on an 11-5 spurt to pull to 44-36.

Parker made back-to-back 3-pointers early in the third quarter for a 52-38 lead. Atlanta got within eight points with 1:07 remaining but Los Angeles’ offensive rebound led to Gray’s 3-point play to seal it.

Nneka Ogwumike had 11 points and seven rebounds for Los Angeles (11-3). The Sparks shot 51.7 percent from the field, including 8 of 17 from distance.

Tiffany Hayes scored 18 points and Elizabeth Williams added 16 for Atlanta (6-6), which has lost six of seven.
