JERSEY SHORE, Pa. (AP) - The state attorney general has approved a deal in which another central Pennsylvania hospital will join the Geisinger health network.

Jersey Shore Hospital, located in the town of the same name about 80 miles (128.7 kilometers) north of Harrisburg, will join Geisinger effective Saturday.

Jersey Shore Hospital was founded in 1911 and is a 25-bed critical access facility, including an urgent care center, with 300 employees.

Geisinger provides medical services to 45 counties in central and northeastern Pennsylvania through 12 hospital campuses and two research centers. It boasts 30,000 employees.

Geisinger announced the state regulatory approval on Friday.
