JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - A 16-year-old boy has been ordered to stand trial as an adult in the beating death of a man in their hometown of Jefferson City, Missouri.

The Jefferson City News Tribune (https://bit.ly/2sYCM31 ) reports that Cole County Circuit Judge Jon Beetem on Thursday signed off on moving Zacchaeus Silva’s case to adult court.

Silva is charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with the April death of 63-year-old Jerry Robertson.

Authorities said an autopsy on Robertson found he had died from blunt trauma from what they suspect was a floor jack handle, much like a pipe.

A possible motive for the killing has not been released.

Online court records don’t show whether Silva has an attorney.
