WHITING, Iowa (AP) - A precautionary water boil advisory has been lifted in the town of Whiting in northwestern Iowa.

The Sioux City Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2rn8zdj ) that Whiting City Clerk Marie Bruns-LeClair said Friday the boil advisory was no longer needed, following an infrastructure repair.

Whiting city officials had issued the advisory Wednesday, following a water main break. That break primarily affected properties on the east side of the town of 762.

Boiling water is a way to kill bacteria and other organisms and help ensure tap water is safe. A loss of water pressure during water system repairs can sometimes allow bacteria into a city’s drinking water.
