Fans of actress Mayim Bialik literally will not hear a word from her for the next month.

The star of CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory” has blown out her vocal cords and was ordered by doctors not to speak for the next 30 days. The actress, author and neuroscientist informed her robust online fandom — 2.1 million on Instagram alone — on Wednesday.

“Here’s a pic of me waiting for a check up from my ENT. I can’t speak for a month. Yup. Check out today’s Instagram story for more details and a vlog teaser for tomorrow. Yes, I can still make videos voiceless!” she wrote.

Specific details as to how the injury occurred and how it might affect filming for the show were not provided. “The Big Bang Theory” aired the final episode of its 10th season last month, a cliffhanger that involves Ms. Bialik’s character, neuroscientist Amy Farrah Fowler.

“Big Bang” was renewed earlier this year for two more seasons.

In addition to her role on the CBS comedy, Ms. Bialik also runs a website called Grok Nation, which covers everything Hollywood news to parenting and faith issues.
