PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Religious leaders in Rhode Island will hold an interfaith memorial service to honor those affected by drug addiction.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2tpON39 ) the First Baptist Church in America in Providence will host the service at 7 p.m. Thursday. Rhode Island’s Faith Infused Recovery Efforts is organizing the event.

RICARES, Parent Support Network, Prevent Overdose, Naloxone Intervention and several other groups will help provide addiction treatment information and support resources for family members of overdose victims.

Participants will join in prayer and music followed by a moment of silence for overdose victims during the service.

According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, 1,281 state residents died from drug overdoses from 2012 to 2016.
