President Trump welcomed the Chicago Cubs to the White House during an “informal” visit Wednesday, congratulating the team on their 2016 World Series victory.

The Cubs, in the middle of a four-game road series against the Washington Nationals, presented Trump and Vice President Mike Pence with jerseys and posed for photographs with the president, and were joined at one point by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
During the visit, Cubs executive Todd Ricketts took a jab at the Nationals, telling the president, “We’re gonna run into these guys in the playoffs … and you’re gonna see them crumble.”
Trump response? “They probably will.”
The Cubs’ official White House visit came while Barack Obama was still in office back in January. However the Ricketts family, which owns the team, has close ties to the president and donated to his campaign, leading to the unofficial trip Wednesday.
