LAS VEGAS (AP) - Heavy traffic is expected in the Las Vegas area during Fourth of July weekend.

KLAS-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2sdwmya ) about 200,000 additional motorists are expected to join everyday commuters on local roads.

The state Department of Transportation expects traffic to be clogged between June 30 and July 5. It expects 60 percent of the estimated 330,000 people visiting southern Nevada will travel by car.

Department spokesman Tony Illia says Interstate 15 and U.S. Highway 95 are expected to have the heaviest traffic.

AAA predicts 37.5 million Americans will driver during the holiday weekend and Las Vegas will be the ninth most popular destination in the country.
