NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Norfolk’s Greyhound station could move from its longtime home on Brambleton Avenue.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the city is in talks about freeing up the prime piece of real estate in the emerging NEON arts district. At the same time, Greyhound is interested in downsizing.
The bus station has occupied the acre of city-owned land since 1961. Mayor Kenny Alexander said new spaces for it could include the Amtrak station near Harbor Park and the Hampton Roads transit station.
City officials have debated various redevelopment projects over the decades. The property has been considered for a new library, a parking garage and an annex for the federal courthouse.
