BOSTON (AP) - More than 7,500 educators from around the country will gather in Boston to address major issues facing schools, students and education during the National Education Association’s annual meeting and Representative Assembly.
The meeting is set to begin Sunday and will run through July 5 at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
On July 3, the NEA will present the 2017 “Friend of Education Award” to actor LeVar Burton for his leadership and decades of work impacting a generation of readers. Burton hosts the long-running PBS children’s series “Reading Rainbow.”
With nearly three million members, the National Education Association is the nation’s largest professional employee organization. The Representative Assembly is the top decision-making body for the NEA.
