NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The Port of Virginia’s new North Gate Complex is about to open.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that the complex is set to open to truck traffic on Friday and is projected to take 740 trucks per day off of nearby crowded roads.
The $42 million expansion adds 22 new lanes to Norfolk International Terminal’s North Berth, an increase of 18 lanes. State and local officials plan to celebrate the opening Monday, two years after they broke ground on the project.
