STANWOOD, Wash. (AP) - Frozen vegetable processor Twin City Foods plans to close its packaging plant in Stanwood, impacting as many as 85 employees.

The Daily Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2sKyRoU ) the plant is expected to close next year. Equipment will be shifted to a plant in Pasco.

Sue Casteel, corporate human resources manager, says some employees will be transferred to plants in Pasco or Ellensburg, some will retire and assistance will be offered to any who are laid off.

Employees at the plant make between $12 and $27 per hour, depending on experience. Many of the employees have been working at the plant for years.
