ERIE, Pa. (AP) - The new outdoor lion exhibit at the Erie Zoo is getting ready for a big makeover and some new residents.

The Erie Times-News reports (https://bit.ly/2rZ5KRp ) that bids for a $700,000 renovation of the lion exhibit will open July 5. The project is expected to be finished in the fall.

The zoo is also working to get three new lions, two females and a male, to form a breeding group. The zoo is currently home to a 19-year-old lioness named Nala. They hope to bring in the new lions soon after the renovation is complete.

Nala moved into the current lion exhibit several months ago. It previously housed capybaras. Before that, the zoo kept lions in its main building.
