BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota landowners who want to obtain flea beetles that eat leafy spurge still have a chance to get the bugs for free.

Field days set up by the state Agriculture Department will be held Thursday in Grant County, June 27 and 29 in Billings County, June 29 in Benson County, and July 5 and 6 again in Billings County. Full details can be found on the department’s website.

Field days have already been held in Stark and Stutsman counties.

Leafy spurge is one of North Dakota’s most problematic weeds. Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring says people interested in getting flea beetles to release on their property can collect them from established populations at the field day sites.
