CHESWICK, Pa. (AP) - A Pittsburgh-area borough with a pension debt of more than $500,000 had its records subpoenaed by a federal grand jury and its offices searched by the FBI and district attorney’s office.

Cheswick Borough Secretary Andy Bock confirmed Tuesday’s search to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (https://bit.ly/2tN5yBm ).

Council President Paul Jack told the newspaper investigators are conducting a forensic audit, which borough officials wanted to do themselves anyway. The FBI and Allegheny County DA’s office didn’t immediately comment on the subpoena that requires Jack to either produce records or appear before a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on July 18.

The state auditor general last year found the borough didn’t make required pension contributions in 2014 and 2015, and the borough again did not last year.

The subpoena seeks records dating to 2005.
