The Twitter account of House Majority Whip Steve Scalise tweeted thanks to Bono after the U2 frontman took time out of a Maryland concert Tuesday night to honor the injured congressman.
“You’ve been through some troubling days here with the shooting in Alexandria,” Bono said onstage in the video. “We are so grateful that Congressman Scalise and his comrades made it through. So grateful. We hold him up, as love holds us all up.”
Mr. Scalise’s twitter account posted the video with a message that read, “Thanks Bono & @U2. - #TeamScalise.”

The Louisiana Republican remains hospitalized in serious condition after a leftist gunman opened fire at a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, shooting the congressman in the hip and injuring a congressional staffer, a Tyson Foods lobbyist, and two Capitol Police officers.
U2 performed Tuesday night at FedExField in Hyattsville, located about 19 miles northeast of Alexandria.
Sen. Ted Cruz, Texas Republican, tweeted a photo from the concert, writing, “At the U2 concert tonight with friends. What talent. Great show!”

Bono stopped by Mr. Scalise’s office Wednesday and signed a large get well card, according to reports.
The singer was at Capitol Hill for a meeting with Republican and Democratic lawmakers to discuss international affairs funding, his ONE Campaign said.
