BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on a wildfire in Southern California (all times local):

6 p.m.

Evacuation orders for homes in the path of a Southern California wildfire have been lifted but the blaze remains out of control.

The mandatory evacuations were called Tuesday afternoon for three streets near Baldwin Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains east of Los Angeles. They were lifted several hours later but fire crews were still busy trying to surround a nearly 1,000-acre blaze.

Two firefighters were treated for heat-related injuries after the blaze erupted Monday. It’s only 10 percent contained as of Tuesday afternoon and some 500 firefighters are on the line, aided by a fleet of water- and fire retardant-dropping aircraft.

The fire is burning in tinder-dry brush and it gained strength as temperatures soared to near 90.

A wildfire in the San Bernardino Mountains east of Los Angeles is 10 percent contained but authorities say it could grow.

The fire has burned its way through nearly 1,000 acres of grass and bush as of Tuesday afternoon.

Lee Beyer of the U.S. Forest Service says rising temperatures could speed its progress. He says the fire is starting to burn more quickly through vegetation that’s drying out in the current heat wave.

No homes are threatened and the mountain resort of Big Bear Lake remains open but two campgrounds and a section of the Pacific Crest Trail are shut down.
