SAC CITY, Iowa (AP) - A 48-year-old man has been hospitalized after falling from a bridge into the Raccoon River in northwest Iowa.

Sac City firefighters were dispatched around 5:30 p.m. Sunday to a spot south of Sac City. A Sac County Sheriff’s Office news release says the man fell backward into the river while sitting on a bridge railing.

He was taken to Loring Hospital in Sac City before being flown to a Sioux City hospital.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Brad Blum, of Sac City.
