WASHINGTON (AP) - Metropolitan police officers discovered a valuable prize in a hole this past weekend - a Chihuahua named Max.
The Washington Post reports that Metropolitan police rescued the dog from a five-foot (1.5-meter) hole in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of northwest D.C. on Saturday.
Metropolitan police Chief Peter Newsham posted a picture on Twitter showing one officer holding another’s feet in the air as he stuck his head in the hole to retrieve the dog. The officers had called for help from a local humane rescue group but took matters into their own hands over concerns about the dog’s health.
The dog is reported to be safe.
