RYDER, N.D. (AP) - Harley-Davidson officials are preparing to hold an event aimed at recruiting more motorcycle riders in a North Dakota city.
The motorcycle company will host its JUMPSTART Rider Experience on Saturday during which Ryder residents can learn motorcycle riding basics, the Minot Daily News (https://bit.ly/2qNUBxt ) reported.
Anoop Prakash is the director of U.S. marketing and market development at Harley-Davidson’s headquarters in Milwaukee. He said the company wanted to “kick off riding season and show America how easy and fun it is to ride motorcycles.”
Prakash said about 50 of Ryder’s more than 80 residents are eligible for the course. They’ll need a valid driver’s license and must know how to ride a bicycle to participate.
Mayor Jody Reinisch said Ryder welcomes the company.
Prakash said the event is part of an outreach effort to build ridership in different parts of the U.S. He said Harley-Davidson has trained over 500,000 riders since 2000.
“This is a continuation of that work,” Prakash said. And, of course, coming to Ryder, North Dakota, allows us to really show how easy and fun it can be to ride motorcycles at every age and stage of your life as long as you have the passion and curiosity for it.”
