MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Severe storms have knocked out power to thousands of Memphis residents a few weeks after the third-largest outage in the Tennessee city’s history.

Memphis Light, Gas & Water says on its website that more than 21,000 customers were without service late Sunday afternoon after thunderstorms rolled through. The company says crews are assessing damage reports.

A May 27 storm lashed Memphis with winds of up to 105 mph and cut electricity to 188,000 customers. Many didn’t get service back for several days.
