DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Iowa’s unemployment rate for May remained at 3.1 percent for the third straight month.
The Iowa Workforce Development agency announced the rate Friday and noted Iowa had added 5,500 jobs in May. The number of unemployed residents also increased in May to 52,900, while the number of people with jobs dropped to 1.64 million.
Iowa’s unemployment rate compared to a rate of 3.8 percent a year ago. The national rate for May was 4.3 percent.
