WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - Tom Power, who along with his wife owned the Cheese Shop in Williamsburg, Virginia, died on vacation while swimming off a beach in Bermuda, his daughter says.

Mary Ellen Power Rogers said on Facebook that her father died Tuesday while swimming in the ocean. He was 81.

Rogers says Tom and Mary Ellen Power opened their first cheese shop in Newport News, Virginia, in 1971. A second shop in Williamsburg followed. In 2003, they relocated the Cheese Shop in Williamsburg and added a wine cellar.

The Powers also opened a restaurant, Fat Canary.
