ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life in prison for his part in a robbery that ended with a father being gunned down in front of his 5-year-old daughter.

Eric Davis said at his sentencing Wednesday that he had no part in the 2014 death of Jose Carrero in Allentown. He was convicted of second-degree murder and other charges. Prosecutors say another man, identified only by the alias “Animal,” fired the shots that killed Carrero and injured his friend.

The prosecution said Davis and the shooter had gone to Carrero’s apartment looking to steal money and drugs. They said witness testimony, GPS information and DNA evidence all tied Davis to the December 2014 shooting.

Davis’ attorney said he plans to appeal.

Police say the shooter has not been arrested.
