DOVER, Del. (AP) - As sizeable crowds descend upon the site of the Firefly Music Festival, the Delaware Department of Transportation has formulated plans to mitigate traffic congestion.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports (https://delonline.us/2swkBma ) the festival, in its sixth year, is expected to draw up to 90,000 people, with at least 70 percent of attendees coming from north of Dover. Gene Donaldson, a DelDOT operations manager, says state officials and partners have held monthly meetings to prepare, hoping to avoid situations like last year’s crashes of 2013’s six-hour jam.

Donaldson says most festivalgoers will arrive by taking Del. 1 to Exit 104 to U.S. 13. If traffic snarls, there’s a plan to close down Exit 104 and divert drivers to Exit 95 to approach the festival from the south.
