DECATUR, Ga. (AP) - Police in Georgia say a victim’s cousin has admitted to the fatal shooting but detectives don’t have a motive.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (https://on-ajc.com/2rqwcTD ) 20-year-old Jamal Kerns is charged with murder and jailed without bond. His twin Jamel Kerns said on Tuesday that he’s confused and incredulous his brother would say or do what police allege.
DeKalb County police say Jamal Kerns admitted he was the one who shot and killed his cousin 18-year-old Keschon Kerns on May 21. The Southwest DeKalb High student was found by his grandfather in the driveway of the family’s home with three gunshot wounds, hands held together near his face and Nike sandals off his feet.
Police say Jamal Kerns’ admission came during questioning about another shooting.
It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
