Not long after the Washington Nationals made their 20th-round pick in the Major League Baseball draft, No. 613 overall, Kirk Cousins dispatched a tweet:

Jake Cousins is a right-handed pitcher from Penn. He is referred to as the “ace of the staff in 2017” in his college bio. He finished with a 3.15 ERA in his senior season, when he an unanimous All-Ivy first-team selection.

The interminable MLB draft rolled on after Cousins’ selection in its midway point. The draft’s 40 rounds will end Wednesday. The Nationals selected left-handed pitcher Seth Romero with their first-round pick.
