DENVER (AP) - No one in Colorado’s congressional delegation was hurt in the shooting at a baseball practice for Republican congressional members.
U.S. Rep. Jared Polis was practicing with the Democratic team on another field about two miles away from where House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was shot. Polis told KOA-AM that there was no security at the Democratic practice until after the shooting. He says armed security arrived and held everyone in the dugout for about 40 minutes.
Polis says no Colorado lawmakers are playing on the Republican team.
He says a shooting is the last thing anyone would expect at a practice for a charity game. He says “You expect pulling a hamstring, people throwing out their arms.”
