AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The state’s financial and administrative commissioner is the latest member of Republican Gov. Paul LePage’s administration to announce his resignation.
LePage announced Tuesday that he has accepted the resignation of Department of Administrative and Financial Services Commissioner Richard Rosen.
LePage’s office didn’t respond to a request for the reason for Rosen’s resignation. Rosen didn’t respond to an email.
The governor said he has appointed the department’s deputy commissioner of operations, David Lavway, to serve as acting commissioner.
In May, former LePage adviser David Sorensen announced he was moving to Washington, D.C. to become a speechwriter for Republican President Donald Trump.
Former Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew, a Republican, resigned last month.
She announced her candidacy for governor in 2018 last week.
LePage is term-limited from running for Maine governor next year.
