CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Department of Education is asking the public to share their thoughts on its new American Indian education and school nutrition programs.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2s07qXG ) the department will hold five public meetings regarding the new programs across the state. According to a department press release, the new education program will teach students about the cultural heritage, history and contemporary contributions of American Indians.

The program was created after new legislation required Wyoming educators to work with the state’s native population to produce educational materials on American Indians. The resources will then be available at the state’s school districts.

The state’s school nutrition pilot project will give money to school districts interested in increasing the amount of Wyoming meat offered in school lunches.
